A charity drive is aiming to propel a Palestinian lullaby to the Christmas number one spot. The effort hopes to send support to Gaza's residents while also showcasing Palestinian cultural expression.

A Chance for Solidarity and an "Chart Upset"

Musician and artist Brian Eno, who features on the track, stated that the single 'Lullaby' represents a moment to stand with Palestinians during the holidays. He remarked the potential for an surprise number one.

“It would be incredible if that came to pass, yes,” he commented. “I wouldn't be completely disheartened if it doesn’t, holiday tracks are a thing unto themselves.”

Resilient Spirit of Self-Determination

Palestinian singer Nai Barghouti, who features in the reimagining of a cultural piece called Yamma Mwel El Hawa, explained the track's defiant core message.

“It occupies a deeply meaningful spot for countless listeners,” Barghouti shared. “It’s basically saying that I would prefer a dignified death than live a life without freedom. This is the primary message of the song; we want to live a life of dignity that we deserve as Palestinians.”

Track's Background and Featured Artists

The single was laid down following a solidarity show held in September. Originally intended to be done as a live recording, the piece was cut from the show due to the event running long.

The diverse array of artists featured on Lullaby encompasses a selection of acclaimed names from the industry. All took part in the earlier concert, which managed to collect a considerable total for humanitarian aid.

Production and Release

Lullaby was produced by a group of producers and composers. The single features a combination of the heritage language with freshly written English words.

The organizers behind the campaign have emphasized that their objective is to raise as much as possible for a specific fund. These resources will be channeled to projects in Palestine through an partnering humanitarian organization.

“We don’t have a fixed goal,” a figure said. “We will pursue as much as possible. Obviously, the more the merrier. It all goes out to those in need in Gaza.”

The situation in the region was described as its extreme devastation, with a huge proportion of infrastructure described as destroyed or damaged.

“Against that backdrop, a handful of millions is unlikely to make that much difference. But I think the significant factor is above all making this cause better known and demonstrating the human dimension of the story.”

The single 'Lullaby' is scheduled for release this Friday. Additionally, a complete film of the benefit event will be made ready to watch on a digital service from mid-December.
