Slot Insists He Is Secure and Has Liverpool's Backing Following PSV Eindhoven Humiliation

Arne Slot acknowledged that it's natural for questions to be asked about his position following another heavy loss versus the Dutch champions.

Liverpool suffered their ninth loss in twelve games, representing the team's worst run after being demoted in the 1953-54 season.

They were dominated by the Dutch league champions on a difficult night at Anfield.

“I am feeling safe, I am OK, I have got significant support from above,” Slot commented.

“It would be nice to reverse this trend and secure a win of course but if you are in a managerial role and not doing well then it is normal that questions are asked.”

He continued, “I accept my position. It is not the first time I've found myself in a challenging situation but it's necessary that we improved our results.”

Discussions with Liverpool Hierarchy

Upon being questioned to provide details on his dialogues with the Liverpool hierarchy, the head coach revealed:

“We talk a lot. They assist to the team and for me and we discuss these matters but they aren't calling me every single minute of the day to say they have faith in me.”

He added, “In the normal discussions I feel the trust. However I haven’t spoken to them after this defeat so far so it remains to be seen.”

Persistent Failings and Squad Reaction

Slot highlighted known shortcomings from his squad in their European loss, namely poor finishing and leaking goals.

Meanwhile, midfielder Jones was more forthright in his view of the current crisis.

“I haven't got the solutions. Honestly, I do not. I’m saying that to everyone,” Jones remarked.

“It's simply unacceptable. I don't have to wait to think about it. I'm beyond being angry internally. I've reached the stage currently where I just don’t have the phrases.”

He continued, “It’s hard because I play for the side I follow. I support them, and I've watched this club all my life.”

“For many years, I haven’t experienced a Liverpool team enduring a period of this nature with performances like these.”

He concluded, “However we continue to wear that badge on our shirts. And as long as that badge is removed, we’re always going to compete.”

“Our aim is to help the side back to where it needs to be, show everyone once more what this club is about and the reason it's called the top club in the planet.”

“At this moment, things are bad and it must improve.”
