Performer Denies Anti-Vaccine Views After Voicing Controversial Pandemic Feature
The acclaimed actor has lent his vocal talents to a feature-length documentary that casts doubt on the safety of vaccines and praises one-time cabinet secretary the political figure.
The Film's Contentious Origins
Titled "Plague of Corruption," the project is based on a popular book published by a disgraced researcher, who gained notoriety during the health crisis for claims that the virus was a result of a faulty batch of the seasonal immunization.
The book's collaborator, a producer, has also written books with conspiracy-prone figure Alex Jones. He recently posted hailing Neeson's involvement in the film.
A Firm Statement
Representatives for Liam Neeson have released a statement pushing back against claims that he subscribes to anti-vax beliefs.
"Many acknowledge that unethical practices may occur within the pharmaceutical industry, but that should never be conflated with opposition to vaccines," the statement states. "Liam is not, and cannot be described as, against vaccines. His extensive work with the UN children's agency reinforces his consistent support for public-health initiatives."
It added that the performer did not shape the documentary's narrative and that concerns about its content ought to go to the creators.
Major Claims In the Documentary
In the film, the voiceover read by Neeson features several provocative claims:
- It states that pro-immunization voices have called for "unconditional submission" to health authorities.
- It posits that "research has become highly influenced by politics."
- Robert F Kennedy Jr is shown claiming, "The big problem with vaccines is that they simply are not properly vetted."
- The narration also criticizes Covid lockdowns, saying they caused psychological harm that led to the loss of thousands of lives.
- Concerning pandemic shots, it cites a report that they were "hurriedly approved" and seen as "hazardous tests."
Previous Controversy and Recent Issues
The film also references a historical film about HIV drug testing on children, which was later the focus of a formal apology by the network for editorial breaches.
Recently, Kennedy instructed the CDC to alter its official position that there is no link between vaccines and autism. This supposed link is repeated in the documentary, contrary to a fresh analysis from the WHO stating no evidence has been found.
A Past Record of Support
Contrasting the documentary's narrative, Neeson has in the past expressed firm endorsement for vaccines in his role as a Unicef global ambassador.
Previously, he called vaccines as "an incredible achievement," noting that "The discourse about vaccines in the past few years has lost sight of how much benefit they have done... It is perhaps one of the biggest human endeavors in human history."
"Plague of Corruption" ends with Neeson's narration stating, "This marks not the end of our narrative. It is the beginning of a different phase."
