Iran Reports Attack on American Facility in Bahrain, Amid Widespread Military Operations.
Iran's military claims to have hit a US naval base in Manama, as the country executed strikes throughout the Middle East in retaliation for a large-scale and ongoing offensive against it by the United States and Israeli forces.
Large columns of dark smoke were observed billowing from an zone near the main base of the American Fifth Fleet in Bahrain's capital, Manama. The scope of any destruction is not yet known and the United States has yet to issue a statement.
Airspace Engagements
In other parts of the Middle East, the United Arab Emirates, the State of Qatar and the State of Kuwait - all home to US military bases - stated they have intercepted missiles in their airspace.
In the Qatari capital, Qatar's defence ministry said it had successfully engaged a number of projectiles seemingly aimed at the al-Udeid air base, the largest American base in the region.
Iran's Declared Retaliation
The Iranian Revolutionary Guard stated it was attacking American facilities and interests as part of military campaign "Truthful Promise 4", in response for the offensive on Iran initiated by the United States and its ally Israel on Saturday morning.
That initial attack - initiated at approximately 09:15 Iran time - has so far struck locations linked to the the regime, with US President Donald Trump encouraging the people of Iran to rise up against the government.
Regional Fallout
In Israel, sirens were heard nationwide after the Israeli military reported it had identified an barrage of missiles from Iran.
The Ministry of Defence of the United Arab Emirates stated that the nation has been subjected to a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"Emirati air defenses responded to the projectiles with high efficiency and destroyed a several projectiles," the statement continued.
The statement noted debris fell on a residential area in the capital, resulting in some structural damage and the death of one civilian.
The United States Air Force operates from the Al Dhafra base, south of Abu Dhabi, along with the Emirati Air Force.
