American Armed Forces Executes Lethal Strike in Eastern Pacific, Resulting in 4 Deaths
As stated by a high-ranking defense spokesperson, the American military executed a fatal kinetic engagement on a boat in the eastern Pacific, killing four individuals.
“A US joint task force conducted a lethal kinetic strike on a craft operated by a Designated Terrorist Organization in international waters. Intelligence verified the vessel was transiting along a known narco-trafficking route and was involved in narco-trafficking operations. All four male narco-terrorists were eliminated, and no American forces were injured.”
Context and Prior Strikes
The statement follows a day after a declaration regarding a blockade of all targeted oil tankers to and from Venezuela. In that announcement on social media, the American leader alleged Venezuela of using oil profits to fund narcotics smuggling and criminal activities, vowing to increase the military buildup.
Just on the previous day, US defense officials said it had conducted strikes on three boats suspected of smuggling narcotics in the Pacific, leading to the deaths of eight people. Beginning on 2 September, over 20 military engagements have killed at least 99 people, the majority off the coast of Venezuela.
Government Defends Tactics Amid Pressure
The administration has encountered increasing pressure to make public video of a September 2nd vessel attack. But, officials have declined to do so. The administration has supported its efforts as a successful operation, arguing it has stopped drugs from reaching US shores and has pushed back on concerns that it is exceeding the limits of lawful warfare.
Although the administration has said the operation is about halting drugs destined for the US, remarks from a senior aide appeared to confirm a wider geopolitical aim. In a recently published interview, the chief of staff remarked the leader “wants to keep on destroying vessels until the Venezuelan president surrenders or concedes.”
This suggests the series of strikes may be linked to a strategy to remove Venezuela's current leadership.
